Summer 2023 Trends
Hi there! I want to start my first blog post with a short introduction… my name is Jaclyn I was born & raised in New Jersey and I have always been infatuated with fashion. Growing up, I almost always tried to follow every upcoming fashion trend. (boy did my parents love that..note the sarcasm) I remember this one specific time entering my middle school years skinny jeans especially colored ones were a HUGE fashion trend. Every cool girl in my school, and celebrity in magazines, tv shows, and movies wore them. I begged my mom for days to take me to the mall for just one pair. I recall my sister saying that I was mumbling “skinny jeans” over and over again in my sleep the night before my mom finally agreed to take me.
I believe fashion trends are a great way to learn and understand your authentic style preference. You don’t need to follow every fashion trend by any means but I think experimenting from time to time is a great way to go outside of your comfort zone. Also, keep in mind that sometimes trends can be considered a “fad”. For those of you that may not be familiar with fashion terminology, “a fad is the latest and most preferred style in clothes, dresses, and behaviors, but for a short period.” (Tutorialspoint, 2023)
With all the research I’ve gathered, here's a list of the fashion trends that you should keep in mind when shopping for your Summer wardrobe! If you would like to see pictures of these upcoming trends, please follow our Instagram @ShopSositaClothing. Pictures will be posted later this week.
Metals/Metallics:
We are going to be seeing a lot of metals and metallics in trousers, dresses, and jumpsuits. I am super excited about this one as I just recently bought a metallic mini skirt from Garage! We have already been seeing this trend a lot this Spring in concerts like Rauw Alejandro’s Saturno tour & we are here for it.
Large bags:
Large bags are a great staple piece for any outfit. I LOVE big bags for the obvious reason that you can fit so much rather than having a shoulder bag or clutch. Of course, small bags are still trending but I think we might be seeing more big bags in our fashion future. And who doesn’t love a nice big bag the more room in your bag the merrier!
Motor cross Racer:
We have been seeing this trend since Fall 22 and we will continue to have motor jackets around for a while… a personal fav! The great thing about this trend is that motor jackets pair great with heels as well as sneakers. Sports truly influence the fashion industry and I just love that for us.
Saffron vibes:
Saffron is such a gorgeous color on any skin complexion, many designers had this color as a part of their Spring/Summer collections. If you prefer to wear more neutral colors, I recommend trying to wear saffron-colored jewelry or accessories. Saffron can make any outfit truly stand out and give that classy timeless look.
Bras:
This is a bold statement but if you are looking to turn some heads and boost your confidence this trend might be for you. I'll be honest, I was a bit taken aback by this one but I am not mad about it! Especially if you live in a more humid state like Florida, you might want to dive into this trend.
80s fabrications:
On the Vogue Runway app, I saw so many Frothy fabrics making a comeback in the upcoming season. Texture, texture, and more texture! I totally will be incorporating this into my wardrobe this Summer. Thrifting might be a great idea to find some vintage pieces if you want to go with the retro authentic route.
Vibrant green:
I always love wearing the color green. This is a perfect color to step outside your comfort zone without being too loud. I have the perfect Summer top from one of my favorite online boutiques; ShopUndressed (Instagram: @ShopUndressed) I have already been seeing this color in almost every clothing store at the mall; H&M, Zara, Forever 21, just to name a few.
